Constable Scott Dyson was also injured in the attack and remains in hospital after waking from a coma on Tuesday.
A young police officer who was rendered blind in one eye after being shot during the Bondi terror attack has been released from hospital.
Probationary Constable Jack Hibbert was patrolling the Chanukah by the Sea event on December 14 when he was shot twice attempting to take down gunmen Sajid and Naveed Akram.
He underwent a number of surgeries and was placed into intensive care, with his injuries resulting in a loss of vision in one of his eyes.
Probationary Constable Hibbert's family confirmed on Tuesday that the 22-year-old had been released from hospital and was recovering at home.
"As a family, we couldn't ask for anything more — having our Jack home, especially for Christmas, truly feels like a miracle," his family said in a statement.
"We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming support, kind messages, and well wishes from the community, Jack's colleagues, friends, and the emergency services.

"The care and dedication shown by the medical staff has been nothing short of exceptional."
Probationary Constable Hibbert's family requested their privacy be respected while the officer continued to recover.
"Thank you again for the compassion, love, and support shown to our family," the family said.
"Jacko, you've shown strength of a different degree. We are so glad you're home, buddy."
Probationary Constable Hibbert had worked with NSW Police for just four months before the terror attack.
Officer wakes up from coma
Constable Scott Dyson was also injured in the shooting and was placed in a medically induced coma, undergoing surgery almost daily.

His family said Constable Dyson woke up on Tuesday for the first time since the incident.
"There is still a long way to go in his recovery, but this is a positive sign," the family said in a statement.
"We would like to thank the public for the support, messages and well wishes shown to Scott and our family during this difficult time.
"We are also grateful for the tireless work of his medical team.
"Our focus remains on Scott's continued recovery and we kindly ask for our family's privacy to be respected."
Fifteen people were killed and another 40 injured in the attack.
Gunman Naveed Akram was in hospital under police guard for about one week after the incident, with the 24-year-old moved to a correctional facility on Monday.
