Public assemblies banned for 14 days across Sydney as police enforce new powers under protest laws

Public assemblies have been banned across large parts of Sydney.

The NSW police commissioner used new powers to declare the South West Metropolitan, North West Metropolitan and Central Metropolitan areas "restricted" from assemblies.

The declaration can be extended fortnightly for up to three months.
