Wild Christmas week ahead for Queensland with days of severe storms forecast as temperatures ease

In short:

Large parts of Queensland are expected to experience thunderstorms today, with severe storms possible in a wide band from the north-west to the south-east.

The rainfall is forecast to continue throughout the Christmas week, before easing into the new year. 

Heatwave conditions in the south are also expected to ease back to more normal levels by Christmas Day.
