In short:

A total of 585 trees will be axed to redevelop the North Adelaide Golf Course, the state government has confirmed.

The figure is much lower than a Liberal Party prediction in August that 5,400 trees could be lost.

Meanwhile, new Liberal leader Ashton Hurn has softened her party's pledge to abolish stamp duty by 2041.
