A prominent community member in Western Australia's north has faced court charged with selling alcohol at an inflated price in dry communities in the Kimberley.

Cyril Mark Yeeda is accused of selling about $45,000 worth of alcohol for which police say he received $170,000 in bank transfers and cash.

Mr Yeeda has pleaded not guilty and is due to reappear in court next month.
