In short:

A classroom study has found one in six children in the Kimberley were carrying potentially deadly strep A bacteria.

The four-year project involved weekly swabs from up to 250 school children who presented with sore throats and skin sores.

What's next?

Researchers are investigating whether earlier swab testing of children with sore throats could reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases.
