In short:

Ashton Hurn has become the leader of the SA Liberal Party, just over three months out from the March state election.

Ms Hurn emerged as frontrunner for the role following Vincent Tarzia's sudden departure on Friday, and this morning confirmed she had been unanimously chosen by her colleagues at a party room meeting on Monday.

What's next?

Ms Hurn concedes the party has an "absolute mountain to climb" but says she is committed to ensuring a "real choice" at the March poll.
