GET TO KNOW AMÉLIE FARREN
Describe your music in 3 words
Melancholic, hazy and blue
How did you get started in music?
I got my start in music doing choir, but honestly, I think it's been a part of me from day one. I don't believe in fate, but music is the one thing that feels inevitable.
What track of yours means the most to you, and why?
The song of mine that means the most to me is Contemplation Song because it feels almost like a story. It took me three years to write, and even now, post-release, I still find myself adding to it.
What's one song of yours that always goes off live?
I love singing Treat You Like a Dog Live. I originally wrote it when I was incredibly frustrated about something, so being able to sing it with that level of enthusiasm is really fun.
How do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
I think if a song makes each individual listener feel something different, it's succeeded. Realistically, I just want people to feel anything when they listen to my music.
Who's your dream collaborator?
I kind of missed my shot, but Johnny Cash is a huge inspiration and if not him... Pit Bull
What's something your fans might not know about you?
If I wasn't doing music, I'd be a storm chaser or a meteorologist or both.
What's next?
My first album Bareheaded is out now, and I'm going to be opening for CAM in the UK through February next year, as well as a few other little things I have planned in the area. So if you're around, come say hi.
