In short:

WA's environmental regulator has decided not to conduct a formal assessment of the government's plan to expand the state's ferry network.

The project includes plans for a jetty and ferry terminal to connect services from Matilda Bay and Applecross to a floating pontoon at Elizabeth Quay.

In its reasoning against a full review, the EPA noted the construction period was short, estimated to be between six and 12 months, and the environmental threats could be regulated by other processes.
