Six children charged with murder over alleged stabbing at Shellharbour train station

Six children and an adult have been charged with murder over the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man at an Illawarra train station earlier this year.
Jack Westren was allegedly stabbed at Shellharbour Junction train station on the afternoon of January 28.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene but could not be revived.
Police charged 39-year-old Albion Park Rail woman Tamara Lee Doust and a 15-year-old boy with murder earlier this year.
Six other children had been charged with lesser offences over the incident, but police said five of them had their charges upgraded to murder on Tuesday.
A total of eight people have been charged over the matter.

The children, who could not be named for legal reasons, included a 13-year-old boy, two 14-year-old boys, a 15-year-old girl, and a 16-year-old boy.
The seventh child was a 12-year-old girl who was charged with affray and assault over the matter.
The 15-year-old who was the first charged with murder has also been charged with possessing an illegal pistol.
The 16-year-old boy has also been charged with blackening or disguising his face with intent to commit a serious offence and being armed with intent.
Ms Doust and two of the male children have remained in custody. The others have been allowed conditional bail.
All six teenagers are due to return to the children's court later this month.
Ms Doust will return to court in December, after a charge certificate on one count of murder was filed by prosecutors in Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday.
An earlier charge of accessory after the fact against Ms Doust will be withdrawn.

Initial investigation probes SUV
Police allege Mr Westren was stabbed during a fight involving a group of people who left the scene in an SUV.
Police say they later found the car and seized it for forensic examination, after which they laid their initial charges.
The cases have been adjourned in the local court several times over recent months.
Last week, the court heard 34 pages of agreed police facts were causing delays in Ms Doust's matter, with prosecutors successfully applying for extra time to consolidate the information.
