A 31-year-old man has faced court after allegedly assaulting staff and damaging property at a local gym in southern Western Australia.
Police say Mindum Alexander Brown was armed with a wooden pole when he entered the BodyCare Health Club in Albany, 400 kilometres south of Perth, just after 10am on Wednesday.
Mr Brown faced the Albany Magistrates Court on Thursday on 12 charges including impeding someone's breath by strangulation, aggravated burglary, threats to kill, assault, criminal damage and breaching bail.
He was remanded in custody until his next appearance in August.
Mr Brown is also accused of smashing the front glass door of the premises and other items in the gym, as well as a vehicle that was parked in the businesses car park.
Police allege the gym was one of two places the man entered on Wednesday, with the other being a private residence.

The gym was closed for most of the day as detectives and forensics units examined the scene.
Two people were taken to hospital after the incident for treatment of minor injuries.
