In short:

A Central West NSW couple has been convicted and sentenced after vandalising the Dorrigo War Memorial before Anzac Day.

The court heard after a night of drinking, Joshua Claridge, 28, broke off part of the statue while climbing it and Toni Cardow, 24, used a piece to make a lewd gesture.

What's next?

Both have been fined, and the court has also ordered Claridge to pay $25,000 toward the 103-year-old cenotaph's repairs.
