In short:

Carolina Wilga says she became lost in WA's outback after crashing her van, hitting her head, and wandering away in a confused state.

She survived 11 nights in freezing conditions with minimal food and water before being found, injured and barefoot, by a farmer more than 30km from her car.

In a statement from hospital, the 26-year-old German backpacker thanked her rescuers and praised the kindness of the WA community.
